AD: Responding to a track

Genre

  • The genre of The Golden Age falls under Baroque Pop and Neofolk
    • The reason for this is the use of piano, violins and large drums, albeit slightly distorted.

High or low fi video?

  • The video itself falls under low fi style, as it uses:
    • Black and white colour-grading
    • A relatively small and unknown cast, with an absent band
    • The CGI section in the beginning, is much more minimalistic and downscaled than their other videos.

Comparable videos?

Similarly styled videos include:
  • Brennisteinn by Sigur Ros
    • It is similar because:
      • It is shot in black and white
      • Slow-motion
      • Close-ups
      • It follows a slightly amplified narrative, although it contains more performance than The Golden Age.
      • It has an artistic element to it, in this case the addition of yellow smoke

I Love You - Woodkid

  • Though this is the same artist, the song is an integral part of the band's meta-narrative.
  • It is shot in black and white, with high contrasts and CGI.
  • Utilises slow motion, which has become another part of the meta-narrative.
